(1) No one shall deface or destroy the ballot paper dropped in the ballot box after voting by the voter, or drop or place any object or substance in the ballot box that damages or destroys the ballot paper, or in the case where the vote is indicated by electronic equipment or means, remove such ballot paper or vote indication or influence such vote indication. No mechanism, device or electrical means should be made or used or such mechanism or device should be given to anyone else.
(2) A person who contravenes sub-section (1) shall be punished with a fine which may extend to one lakh rupees or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with both.
